Job Description:
This position provides support to the Teller Manager in directing and monitoring daily Teller operations. This person performs daily Teller activities and provides members with information about the Credit Union’s products and services. This individual also performs certain Teller Manager duties in her/his absence.  Highlights from the job description include:

  • Receive checks and cash for deposit
  • Cash checks, process withdrawals, and issue Credit Union checks
  • Process VISA and other loan payments
  • Process transfers
  • Balance currency, coin, and checks in cash drawer
  • Record vault transactions, balance vault, and adjust teller cash levels based on member needs
  • Sell gift cards, official checks, money orders, postage stamps, and entertainment discount tickets
  • Replenish ATM
  • Cross-sell credit union products and services
  • In the absence of the Teller Manager, supervise and develop staff and conduct training
  • In the absence of the Teller Manager, supervise teller transactions, examine daily teller settlements, assist in the resolution of discrepancies, reconcile general ledgers, complete Currency Transaction Reports, retrieve overnight deposits, and order currency

Work Schedule:Monday        7:30 am - 4:30 pm
Tuesday       7:30 am - 4:30 pm
Wednesday   7:30 am - 4:30 pm
Thursday       7:30 am - 4:30 pm or 9:30 am to 6:30 pm
Friday            7:30 am - 4:30 pm 
Saturday - One or two per month from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm

Please note the following about this work schedule:
Saturdays are worked at our Perry Hall location; additional Saturdays may be required from time to time to meet business demands. Employees earn Premium pay for all Saturday hours.

Work Site:
Although the primary location for this position is in Towson, employees will also be required to work at other branch locations (including Perry Hall and GBMC) on an as needed basis. As a result, they may be asked to travel between locations, where starting and ending times are slightly different than the schedule described above.

Minimum Qualifications:
In order to be considered, applicants must possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • Diploma from a public or accredited private high school; or the possession of a high school equivalency diploma
  • One year experience in the operation of a cash drawer in a financial institution, including experience with balancing, cash disbursal, and cash receipts

Education at an accredited college or university in a field of study related to the required experience, or a required course in a degree program related to the field of study, may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Thirty credit hours of education are equivalent to one year of experience.

Other Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the procedures to account for and safeguard large amounts of currency
  • Make arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages
  • Count large amounts of currency with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive member and Credit Union information
  • Ability to travel between locations and within the Baltimore area for trainings or meetings
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers, internet applications, e-mail, and various windows-based software applications including word processing
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds
  • Applicants will also be required to submit to a criminal background check and credit report review.
