Accounting Assistant

Delaware State Police FCU
The Accounting Assistant will work directly with all members of the Accounting Department on various accounting issues and projects. Follow detailed standard procedures in performing daily accounting functions.

Title: Accounting Assistant
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Duties and Responsibilities:
Daily reconciliation of cash accounts and list checks in corporate account
Process and track certified checks, rejected member deposits, stop payments, check copies, foreign item deposits
Track 401k deposits, workers comp and disability
Post 945 Taxes and annual tax returns
Document and ensure proper keeping of financial records
Checks figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes
Classifies, records, and summarizes numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records
Handles accounts payables and ATM reconciliation including tracking expenditures
Complete special projects as assigned
Document and improve SOP’s as needed
Complies with federal, state and company policies, procedures, and regulations
Reconcile and pay Corporate Visa Credit Card statements
Maintain working knowledge of various systems used; Excel, Outlook, Word, Symitar, etc
Other duties as assigned

Experience:
Associate Degree or equivalent experience
Experience in Banking or Credit Union preferred
Strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
Ability to work and excel in a team setting
Strong computer skills and a good understanding of an overall computer environment are necessary. Experience with Excel and MS Word preferred
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
