Member Service Specialist

MSS is responsible for performing all branch functions including but not limited to: processing transaction requests via all channels, assisting members with lending related duties while focusing on member relationships, creating member loyalty and growing our membership and brand.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Gives prompt, efficient and accurate service: processes all member transactions requests.
  • Opens new membership accounts including all shares, IRAs, SSI and Estate certificate requests received by mail and phone.
    Ensure the maintenance of existing certificates by renewing or canceling certificates upon maturity in response to member request.
  • Utilizes tact and experience-based knowledge to research and resolve member inquiries explaining specific policies, procedures and products.
  • Interviews potential loan applicants and initiates requests.
  • Responsible for communicating loan decisions and compiling necessary documents for loan underwriting.
  • Reviews credit report for possible cross sell opportunities.
  • Assists members in reviewing loan terms and payment protection options.
  • Utilizes tact and experience-based knowledge to research and resolve member inquiries.
  • Disburses loan proceeds according to underwriting stipulations.
  • Perform a variety of administrative duties that support member service/branch operations

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) education required.

Experience/Skills/Knowledge:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in member services, branch operations and/or lending.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of deposit and lending products, services, policies and programs.
  • Previous telephone sales experience. Previous teller or customer service experience preferred.
  • Excellent math ability and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal, written, telephone and interpersonal communication skills.
  • PC proficient including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the Internet.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously and produce the desired outcomes.
  • Ability to function in a commercial office environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: PC, fax, copier, telephone, etc.
    Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
    Some travel required.
