GENERAL SUMMARY
Under general supervision, but following established policies and procedures, is responsible for preparing and generating accurate financial records for Management and/or Board of Directors. Prepares financial management and regulatory reports for review by the VP-Finance & Administration and President/CEO. Researches and resolves more complex accounting problems. Responds to questions and/or provides information upon request from members (internal and external). Processes requests/transactions, as appropriate. Assist members in understanding Credit Union products and services.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Prepares monthly financial reports for review by Management and the Board of Directors, such as Balance Sheet, Income and Expense Report and other reports. Assists the VP of Finance & Administration with annual budget preparation. Responsible for filing required reports with IRS and NCUA.
2. Responsible for preparing and posting journal entries and performing month-end and year-end close.
3. Performs balancing, reconcilement, research and problem solving on a variety of general ledger accounts, including subsidiaries, wire transfers, ACH and bank reconciliations. Inputs accounting/financial information.
4. Acts as liaison with the credit union’s external auditors. Provides information to them as required.
5. Maintains and reconciles the CU’s Investment Portfolio, including: Preparing entries for investment purchases, sales and maturities; investment interest accruals and payments and discount/premium amortization/accretion, under the direction of VP-Finance & Administration, CEO and ALM advisor.
6. Works with Accountant in reconciling of daily work to include, but not limited to: accounts payable, fixed assets, bank reconciliations, etc.
7. Utilizes tact and experienced-based knowledge to resolve complex accounting problems, explaining specific policies and procedures. May perform all duties of an Accountant as needed.
8. Maintains current knowledge of NCUA requirements, MACHA and NACHA requirements, generally accepted accounting principles and equipment related to a computerized accounting function by reading, attendance at NCUA, Credit Union League, and various national Credit Union conferences and seminars.
9. Performs other Accounting/Finance and Operational processing related duties as assigned by the VP-Finance & Administration.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
1. BS in Accounting
2. Minimum 4 years of accounting experience, preferably dealing with financial institution accounting 
3. Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP and automated accounting systems
4. Knowledge of credit union operation, regulations and financial reporting
5. Familiarity with auditing and internal control standards
6. PC proficient including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the Internet as well as other spreadsheets and financial analysis programs.
7. Excellent oral, written, organizational, interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills
8. Ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously.
9. Must be able to exercise confidentiality and discretionary judgment
10. Ability to function in a financial institution branch environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: PC, copier, telephone, etc.
11. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. e.g. file boxes. Some travel required.
