The Position
We are excited to announce the search for a Vice President of Finance. This position is responsible for overseeing the accounting and finance activities of the Credit Union, including the preparation, analysis and evaluation of Credit Union financial information, asset and liability management (ALM), budgeting, cash management, and investing. This position ensures that all accounting activities are in accordance with GAAP, and that the Accounting Department supports the overall goals of the Credit Union. This position serves as a key member of the executive management team and communicates frequently with the Board of Directors. This position reports directly to the President/CEO.

Work Schedule & Location
This is a full-time, exempt level position. Hours will generally be Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm with occasional evening and weekend hours, as needed. The primary location for this position is in Towson, Maryland.

Qualifications
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field, plus two years’ experience as an accountant, preferably with a financial services company. This position also requires supervisory experience. Other requirements include:

  • Ability to travel between locations and within the Baltimore area for trainings or meetings
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles
  • Knowledge of Asset Liability Management (ALM) theory and practices and skill in utilizing ALM software
  • Knowledge of employment/payroll taxes and insurance, including but not limited to, unemployment insurance and worker’s compensation
  • Knowledge of EFT systems, including the ACH network, its operation, participants, settlement and posting mechanisms, and ACH transaction flow
  • Knowledge of the Federal Reserve check processing system
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment credit check and criminal background check, as well as post-employment periodic criminal background checks, as a condition of employment.
