Job Purpose:
The role of the Mortgage/Home Equity Loan Officer is instrumental to our financial center. The Loan Officer is to establish new and increase existing member residential and home equity mortgage loan accounts. In addition, increases relationships through referrals of retail, credit card and other line of Credit Union products and services. The Mortgage/HE Loan Officer serves as a proactive member of the lending team by being an initial sales contact for new and existing members. Effectively manages existing members and book of business to support the retention and growth of profitable member relationships through growth of loan products. The Mortgage/HE Loan Officer will provide our members with outstanding professional and courteous service by giving them full attention and making their business a top priority.

Essential and Secondary Duties:
• Meet or exceed assigned loan and referral goals through development of a positive member experience.
• Establish and maintain member contact to generate new loan volume, loan leads and other new business.
• Explain mortgage and home equity programs to members, including different financing programs available.
• Collects, reviews and processes residential/home equity mortgage loan applications.
• Acquires and reviews supporting member documentation to analyze and determine if member meets lending guidelines.
• Monitors and provides support with lending laws and regulations; including Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (SAFE Act), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Truth in Lending Act (TILA) and all other regulations and policies governing Mortgage/Home Equity Lending.
• Consistently and effectively initiate member conversations to fully understand member needs and deliver the right CU products and services. Maintain complete knowledge of CU products and services.
• Recognize other financial service opportunities and refer those to appropriate line of business.
• Adhere to all procedures including operational and strategic plan guidelines.
• Maintains knowledge of and ensures compliance with all Federal and State CU regulations and adheres to Credit Union policies and procedures.
• Prepare and compile data for NCUA 5300 report and Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) Reports.
• Identify and respond swiftly to fraudulent activity; protecting the member and the CU.
• Deliver world class member service by going above and beyond for the member.
• Maintain and ensure adherence to safety and security procedures and guidelines.
• Maintain privacy and integrity of member information.
• Participate in CU team meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Certification Requirements:
• College degree preferred.
• Must have NMLS registration.
• Must be bondable and pass a credit check.

Experience and Skill Requirements:
• 3-5 years’ direct experience in mortgage/home equity processing and development of portfolio.
• Knowledge of lending laws and regulations, especially residential/home equity lending.
• Knowledge of NCUA 5300 Report and Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) Reports
• Familiarity with Credit Union products and services a plus.
• Detail oriented with strong written and oral communication skills.
