Fairfax County Federal Credit Union is currently seeking a full-time Vice President of Operations at our main location in Fairfax. The VP of Operations directs the operations of multiple Credit Union facilities, ensuring the branches and Communication Center meet organizational financial, operational, service, security, and growth plans. Develops and leads deposit product program. This role has responsibility for developing and leading the Credit Union’s deposit product program. The VP of Operations participates in the general management of the organization as a member of the Senior Management Team reports to the President/CEO. This position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Due to the nature of retail branch operations, occasional weekend and nights may be required.

Major duties and responsibilities:

  • • Directs the overall operations of the branches and Communication Center through subordinate managers/supervisors including but not limited to: new member on-boarding, general maintenance & security of branch, currency shipments, branch balancing, and monthly reports. Recommends, implements and evaluates processes and systems to improve productivity and member service. Works with the finance area to establish annual operational budget and monitors performance to budget throughout the year. Coordinates with senior leadership team to ensure that operational priorities are aligned with company brand and strategic plans.
  • • Hires, directs, and motivates branch and communication center managers (and other branch personnel in the absence of a manager). Coaches and develops branch managers/supervisors in order to grow leadership skills and improve performance. Administers performance evaluations and recommends appropriate personnel actions. Collaborates with Operations Trainer and VP of Marketing to present staff training in member relations and sales and service techniques.
  • • Develops, implements, and coordinates strategy and activities for new and existing deposit products and third party member protection products such as Credit Safeguard, GAP, MRC, and TruStage. Coordinates closely with other departments (e.g. lending, marketing, business development, I.T., compliance) as necessary. Relays member feedback on all products and services to leadership team. Establishes annual sales and performance goals (in conjunction with the marketing and finance areas) for deposit and member protection products and initiates actions to achieve the goals.
  • • Works closely with compliance department to ensure branch compliance with all regulations and ensure proper on-boarding of new members. Responsible for compliance issues associated with deposit programs including Regulations B, D, E, Z, CC, and DD. Promptly reports complaints to Compliance for tracking on the complaints/issues log.
  • • Ensures prompt, professional, and accurate service and support to all members, potential members, employees, and associate relationships. Represents the credit union to members and potential members as well as external organizations such as vendors and professional associations.

Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Five to eight years of similar or related experience, with at least three years management experience in a financial institution setting.
  • • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Business Administration or other related field); or equivalent experience including completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program.
  • • Must have excellent oral and written communication, coaching, and leadership skills. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and involves motivating, influencing, training and selling ideas and services to others, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and externally) is an important part of the job and a high level of interpersonal skills are critical to the success of this position. Work frequently requires considerable discussion of issues, material presentations, and problem resolution impacting members or other departments.
  • • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced retail environment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are required.
  • • Must have in-depth understanding of and ability to interpret regulations affecting deposit programs within the Credit Union, including Regulations B, D, E, Z, CC, and DD.
  • • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and other specialized systems.
  • • Must pass background check, maintain bondability, and maintain MLO registration with the NMLS. Attain FiCEP certification within 24 months of obtaining position.
  • • Ability to sit at a desk or stand for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • • Frequent local travel to various community events. Occasional out of town travel. Must maintain valid driver's license.
