Welcome to the Capital Region Sister Society
The Capital Region Sister Society provides opportunities for local credit union leaders to invest in themselves, hold meaningful dialogue and support organizations that help women.
We focus our educational and networking opportunities on the needs of female leaders, but all are invited to join in allyship and raise their voice for women in credit unions!
Mission
Connect and inspire credit union women in the nation’s capital region
Beliefs
We, the Capital Region Sister Society of the Global Women’s Leadership Network:
- Invest in ourselves, each other and our sister society
- Foster honest, sometimes difficult, but always meaningful conversations
- Support organizations that promote & sustain women locally and around the world
Actions
- Offer regularly scheduled events educational sessions, professional development and networking opportunities
- Provide an environment that invites open discussion
- Encourage membership in GWLN
The Capital Region Sister Society is a chapter of the World Council of Credit Union’s Global Women’s Leadership Network, serving Maryland, Washington DC and Northern Virginia. Membership in GWLN is encouraged but not required. GWLN was founded when female credit union professionals recognized that there weren’t many credit union CEOs who looked like them, nor did these women exist in the executive pipeline. GWLN offers development opportunities for women around the world, including 4,500 individuals in 86 countries.
