Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Certificate Program


In partnership with Georgetown University’s School of Continuing Studies, the MD|DC Credit Union Association is offering a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) certificate program designed specifically for credit union leaders. Drawing on the latest research, the Advancing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate Program will provide professionals with the competencies, knowledge, and tools to develop DEI strategies that align with HR and business objectives.

The next session begins April 2022 (see program schedule below). The certificate program has been customized for credit unions and will be live-taught online by faculty and experienced practitioners affiliated with the Georgetown Master’s in Human Resources Management program and Georgetown’s Executive Certificate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

The certificate program has been customized for credit unions and will be taught by faculty and experienced practitioners affiliated with the Georgetown Master’s in HR Management program and DEI Executive Certificate. Combining lectures, class discussions, case studies and hands-on application through projects, the program is designed as a cohort to promote a high level of interaction between participants.

The program will be live-taught online, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm ET on the following dates:

Module 1: Foundations of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion | *April 21 & 22 

Module 2: Building an Inclusive Workplace | May 19 & 20

Module 3:Diversity & Inclusion in Action | June 9 & *10

*April 21 class will be held 10 am - 6 pm, June 10 class will be held 9 am - 12 pm

Upon successful completion of the program, participants should be able to:

• Prepare a solid business case for diversity and inclusion, and identify measures to prove the return on investment of diversity and inclusion initiatives.
• Develop strategies and programs to attract and engage diverse talent, and achieve HR and business goals.
• Measure the progress and impact of diversity and inclusion programs and initiatives, using appropriate metrics and benchmarks.
• Communicate about diversity and inclusion solutions, initiatives, events and progress to diverse audiences and stakeholders.

The cost is $3,400 for the DEI certificate program. Financial assistance is available for credit unions with less than $150 million in assets through training grants provided by the CU Foundation of MD|DC.

Approved awardees will receive their training grant as a REIMBURSEMENT upon successful completion of the program. Certification verification demonstrating completion of the program is required to receive the grant. Eligible credit unions may receive up to $2,000 annually. Funds are limited.
