The U.S. House Will Vote on DC Statehood June 26

The historic vote was announced today at a press conference by House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer.

Hoyer expects the legislation making the District the 51st state to pass the House, which would mark the first time in history that a statehood bill would be advanced by either chamber of Congress. However, the Republican-controlled Senate is not expected to support the legislation that would give the District two new senators and a voting member of the House.
