A Nationwide Moratorium on Evictions Issued Through December

The new eviction ban runs through the end of the year and is being enacted through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Under the order, renters have to sign a declaration stating they don't make more than $99,000 a year — or twice that if filing a joint tax return — and that they have no other option if evicted other than homelessness or living with more people in close proximity. The form is expected to be available on the CDC’s website.

An earlier federal eviction moratorium created by the CARES Act was lifted in late July.
