Can Hogan’s High Approval Ratings Help Win Back the Senate?

Republican leaders on the Hill seem to think so.

The latest poll numbers show Maryland Governor Larry Hogan with a 74% job approval rating and 76% approval numbers for his handling of the pandemic. The Gonzales Research poll released today is just the latest to indicate that in a state dominated by Democrats, Hogan’s brand of moderate politics has consistently delivered high approval ratings.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and other top Republicans are reportedly
working to persuade Governor Hogan, who is term limited, to run against Senator Chris Van Hollen who is up for reelection this year. A win by Hogan could help Republicans in their effort to take back control of the chamber.
