Since becoming title sponsors of the race in 2002, credit unions, through Credit Union Miracle Day, have donated over $10.2 million to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) nationwide. Locally, the funds support children and their families receiving treatment at Children’s National in DC and Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore.

“For the past 20 years, credit unions have been working together to make a significant impact in our communities and in the lives of children treated at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals,” said John Bratsakis, chair of Credit Union Miracle Day. “The funds raised directly benefit CMN Hospitals in local communities, helping to fund research, treatment, and medical equipment.”

With the race running through the heart of the nation’s capital, the contributions credit unions make to their communities is on full display for lawmakers and administration officials, some of whom joined in the race this year. U.S. Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough competed in the Ten Mile Run, while New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand participated in the 5K run/walk.
