Credit Unions Engage with Comptroller Franchot & Commissioner Salazar During Maryland Lobby Day

The MD|DC Credit Union Association hosted its Lobby Day in Annapolis on Tuesday, followed by a legislative reception attended by more than 40 lawmakers.

The evening event was an opportunity for the more than 45 credit unions executives gathered to get to know their state legislators and regulators. House Economic Matters Committee Chair Delegate Dereck Davis, along with Department of Labor, Licensing & Regulation Acting Secretary James Rzepkowski and Commissioner of Financial Regulation Tony Salazar, delivered remarks, thanking credit unions for their assistance during the federal government shutdown. Earlier in the day, credit unions met with Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot who talked about his role as the state’s tax collector and why he supports financial education. The Comptroller recognized credit unions for taking the lead on literacy programs such as reality fairs and in-school branches. He presented Comptroller’s coins, which recognize people who are making a difference, to MD|DC Credit Union Association President/CEO John Bratsakis and Howard Education Federal Credit Union student board member Dumebi Adigwe.
