Andrews FCU Empowers Women Through HBCU Women in Sports Forum and Softball Classic

Andrews Federal and the Andrews Shares Foundation recently served as the signature sponsor for the Women in Sports forum and the inaugural HBCU Softball Classic between Bowie State University and Howard University.

WomenInSports Andrews 280The events were designed to empower and inspire female athletes as they consider goals or career paths in sports and human performance-related fields. Guest speakers at the Women in Sports forum featured community leaders in sports, service and education.

This year also marked the 50th anniversary of the passage of Title IX, legislation designed to create equal access to education and access to
collegiate-level athletic participation. “Andrews Federal is committed to supporting the endeavors of young people in our communities,” said Damita Robinson, Chief Operations Officer at Andrews Federal Credit Union. “It’s an inspiration to watch the determination of these young women on the softball field and to envision the positive impact they will make on their communities in the future.”

The sponsorship of the Women in Sports forum and the HBCU Softball Classic is part of Andrews Federal’s ongoing efforts to serve diverse communities and to provide resources that contribute to their success. “Andrews Federal is proud to support young women and young leaders -- through the HBCU Women in Sports forum, college scholarship programs and more,” Robinson said.
