Montgomery County Employees Federal Credit Union Earns Juntos Avanzamos Designation

MC EFCU of Germantown, Md., has earned the Juntos Avanzamos designation from the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions in recognition of serving Hispanic and immigrant consumers.

MC EFCU, which primarily serves Montgomery County government employees, along with members from a variety of other local businesses, was honored to earn this designation. MC EFCU is the first credit union in Maryland to earn the Juntos Avanzamos designation and Maryland is only the 23rd state to have at least one credit union with the designation.

Juntos Avanzamos, which means “Together We Advance,” is a designation given to credit unions committed to serving and empowering Hispanic and immigrant consumers in their markets, and helping them navigate the complex U.S. financial system by providing safe, affordable and reliable financial services.

“We are incredibly honored and excited to receive the Juntos Avanzamos designation from the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions,” said Jim Norris, CEO of MC EFCU. “We have been making great strides as a credit union to serve Hispanic and immigrant populations. In recent years, MC EFCU has really ramped up efforts to employ bi-lingual member service staff and make access to quality financial services easier. Juntos Avanzamos recognizes these efforts on a public scale.”

“Juntos Avanzamos is a great representation of the approach we have taken in the communities we serve in Montgomery County,” adds Jorge Saenz, Chief Development Officer of MC EFCU said. “I’m incredibly proud of our staff and the strides they’ve made to welcome Hispanic and immigrant consumers, along with the shifts we have made internally to embrace these consumers.”
